Being an Adult Isn't Always Fun

Today was just one of those days when being an adult sucked.
Woke up with a tire pressure alert to find out that there was a nail and the tire needed a full replacement.

Marvelous.

Then got paid. Should be happy, but because the account had dropped below $0.00 yesterday (due to a “Monthly Maintenance Fee”) and was -$1.00, got charged a $35.00 overdraft fee.

Splendid.

After that, the utilities needed to be paid, which depleted most of the check due to the rising energy costs in 100° weather.

Even better.

Not to mention I haven’t had much time to spend with the boyfriend/baby daddy due to our opposite schedules. Which we work to save on daycare.

Superb.

When you’re constantly trying to make it work, and working towards a better tomorrow- it can get rough. It’s hard to see the progress you’re making when everything piles up.
But stop. And think back to 2 years ago, 1 year ago, heck even a couple months ago. Where you are today is not where you were then.
It’s hard to believe but it’s true. Even the smallest of changes can make an impact.

Then focus on your child. Even they’re not where they were a couple months ago. And that’s truly spectacular. [All sarcasm aside.]
Has your toddler learned to say a few more words? Has your child gained more dexterity? Is your baby eating solid food now?
So much of the time we focus on ourselves, and work, and paying bills (I’m guilty of it too), that we forget about the important things. On this Friday, after a long week, I’m asking you to put the stress out of your mind and focus on your babies. Focus on the smiles that brighten your day, on the hugs that pull at your heart, on the cuddles that calm you down. This is what we’re living for, and this is what we’re working for. This is what we’re trying to better ourselves for.
Don’t forget the important things in life mamas- it gets better.
